Easy-To-Use Pin Nailers
A pin nailer belongs to the category of pneumatic nailers & can be described as a spring-loaded handheld tool used primarily for attaching moldings & wood trims. The nailer has a barrel that holds fasteners or small nails called pins.
The pin nailers work on the same principal as pneumatic nailers do. These utilize compressed air that propels a piston within the pin nailer which in turn impels the fastener. This kind of a nailer is used to drive 21-23 gauge pins of length varying from ½ inch to 1 3/8 inches.
The reason for the difficulty in driving pin nails is that these are headless unlike the traditional round-head nails. However, this also comes up as an advantage since being headless the pins tend to create such small holes that they become virtually invisible after sanding.
While the prime use of these pin nailers is for attaching moldings, they have additional uses too. Construction experts tend to use pin nails as an effective replacement to taping & clamping. They are also frequently used for tacking pieces together temporarily in wood workshops or in jig building.
